I didn't have a second Play:5 (now renamed Sonos Five) to connect as a stereo pair and contrast, but I suspect Arc would hold its own there, too. As you might expect, as basically the largest model in the range, it outperforms all of Sonos' standalone music speakers. More immersive, yes, but I suspect every Arc buyer will want to add some dedicated rear speakers for the full effect.Īrc doesn't just work as a soundbar for TV, of course it's also a full Sonos speaker for music. With its flag squarely planted in the premium audio category, this sound bar is also much. On its own, Arc's surround sound performance is broader than stereo but not likely to convince you that audio is actually coming from behind you. Buy Sonos Arc Soundbar (White) featuring Built-In Wi-Fi Connectivity, Google Assistant & Amazon Alexa Built-In, Dolby Atmos Support, Apple AirPlay 2. Sonos Arc is simply, a sound bar, but its not your average sound bar. Atmos support is all well and good, but content with earlier versions of surround sound is far more available, and only slightly less impressive. It outperforms the Playbar I typically use with my primary TV as well. ![]() Both sound fairly bright, though, and the Playbar performs better at max volume than the Arc. The design is different too the Arc is long and more rounded and curved which gives it a more modern-looking aesthetic. This makes it both larger and heavier than its predecessor, the SONO Playbase. The SONOS Arc measures in at 45 x 4.5 x 3.4 inches and it weighs 13.8 pounds. Tempest levels of bass still don't overwhelm the mid-range, and the extra width of the soundbar over the Sonos Beam makes for a broader soundstage, too. The Sonos Arc is a bit more versatile than the Sonos Playbar. As things get louder, though, Arc doesn't get left behind.
